Rather than bashing rival technologies, come learn and participate in the Tech Throwdown panel discussion. We're going to bring in some of the area's brightest technology talent to present Ruby on Rails vs the .NET MVC Framework. Each presenter will have 30 minutes to cover their topic, followed by a panel discussion with audience participation. Nubes are welcome, but the topics discussed assume you'll have working knowledge of a web MVC framework (Java, PHP, .NET, Rails, etc).

THE SPEAKERS

Representing Rails - Ryan Cook & Collin Schaafsma
Ryan enjoys conceptualizing ideal implementations of products and then helping to make them happen. A backend dev, Ryan loves developing custom APIs almost as much as he loves writing tests. Other than that, he can usually be found daydreaming about powder days in the mountains or at North Boulder park futzing around with a frisbee, soccer ball, or book.

Collin Schaafsma is co-founder and President of Quick Left, a progressive web development studio based in Boulder, CO. He's been building web applications professionally for over a decade using a range of technologies. However, it wasn't till discovering Ruby that he realized code can be truly beautiful. These days, Collin spends most of his time working directly with clients helping them with their process, architecture and business strategy, as well as honing the Quick Left Agile process. He believes that beyond focusing on development craftsmanship, consultancies must focus on making their client's projects a business success.

Representing .NET - Joe Wilson & Ely Lucas

Joe Wilson is president of Volare Systems, a Microsoft Partner creating custom software applications in the mid and enterprise business markets in the Denver, Colorado area. His latest project tools have centered around C#, ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, NHibernate, Ninject, SpecFlow, NUnit, and Moq. He spends his free time with his wife Darien and kids Zoe, Clark, and Rose. He also enjoys spending time outside hiking, biking, and trying not to get hurt playing basketball.

Ely Lucas is a software developer with more than ten years experience developing web applications. He is a Senior Consultant at Aspenware, a custom application development shop that creates software people want to use. Ely uses ASP.NET, MVC, jQuery, and a host of other tools to create cutting edge solutions for his clients. When not coding, Ely spends time with his wife, son, and dog in Westminster, CO.
