Talks evening: Agile Testing and Spring services

Details

We have two talks for our next session. Kim Knup will be speaking about agile testing and Luke Whiting will be talking about developing services in Spring:

Testing is vital to any Java developer's success. A quick bit of QA can make the difference between life and death, as well as helping you avoid those little mistakes that can end careers - forever! But how do you fit testing into an agile project? Kim Knup has saved the life of many a developer, but it shouldn't all come down to the QA team. What is Agile Testing and how can we all employ agile testing techniques to help produce better software?

Microservices are a useful tool in a developer's arsenal but one of the major obstacles is the huge amount of setup and boilerplate that you need: REST endpoints, marshallers, DOs and so on, just to send a handful of parameters and receive one response. Multiply this by every endpoint and things get boring. In this talk Luke Whiting will guide you through using the Spring framework to develop robust, responsive and scalable remote services in 100% pure Java with not a RestTemplate or JSON parser in site.

Doors will be open from 7pm, and pizza, beer and soft drinks will be supplied by our sponsors Brandwatch. Everyone is welcome whatever their experience.
