API's & Capybara Testing

API with Rails

James has been working on a side project in which he needed to build an API but was getting sick of Rails bloat. He ended up going with Grape for the API instead of Rails, and Curator for the domain model and persistence layer, instead of ActiveRecord. See how James implemented this.

Testing Mobile Apps with Capybara

Dylan will show how he has been testing mobile apps using Capybara and related tools.

Hey all. I've yet to attend one of these meetups as I spend most of my time in HK. Could I ask a question - trying to find ballpark rates for RoR programmers in Bne? Can anyone let me know what the current typical day rates are? Thanks in advance

Sorry guys, just realised this is actually one of the code-school nights.

One the things I really like about Rails is that it is so damn opinionated (compared to say Java with its 1001 ORM jars to choose from). Testing is something that seems to be a little less so. It will be great to chat and see what others think in this space.

Happy to jump up and do a lightning talk on the way we've been rolling our APIs at NetEngine recently. Let me know which part would be of highest value -

They're currently driven by rspec request specs
    We serialize with active-model-serializers.

This is definitely the talk I've been waiting to come round.
