What we’re about
Groups Overview
Brissy Tribute Bands (BTB) meetup social group recently received recognition from Meetup HQ as one most active Meetup groups in the world, and thanked us for this amazing accomplishment.
This group has become very popular because there are no memberships and most of the events are totally free and everyone likes live music and dancing. These outings sometimes include International and Nationally Bands and Show that would cost thirty dollars upwards at other venues. Other reason for the group’s popularity is that we host meetups for all tastes of music at a variety of venues. Because of this you make many new friends and see new faces. This group was originally organised in meeting for live music and dancing but it has now also become a dinning outing. The monthly meet and greet is a nice ice breaker where you can chat and listen to music in a relaxing environment. We are very passionate about this group right from sourcing, hosting and attending the functions.
What this Group is all About
We originally decided to start this group because we love listening and dancing to tribute bands. This group is for singles, couples young and young at heart who enjoy the music of 50’s through to modern day. Like us you may have not had the opportunity to see the original, because they have disbanded or sadly deceased. The band also may not have toured Australia yet or the tickets were out of your price range, seeing the tributes are the next best thing. If you want to experience the atmosphere, stage performance and sounds of these music legends, Brissy Tribute Bands is for you.
I Would like to Introduce Ourselves
My name is Allan and my wife is Sue, we have been dancing together for eleven years, and we really love old time rock and roll dancing, we also enjoy fast rockabilly. I am a bit quite when we first meet but when there is a common interest like live music and dancing you can’t shut me up. We enjoy house parties, especially when dancing is involved we will become the life of the party. When we are with a group of people on a dance floor we enjoy circle free style dancing where everyone struts their stuff. To put it simply we totally enjoy dancing whether it be rock and roll, freestyle, head banging or just shuffling on the floor, we are not satisfied until we are totally exhausted.

A CAN'T MISS show as multi-platinum recording artist Emily Williams, one of Australia’s favourite voices, performs "I'm Every Woman" a Whitney Houston tribute show LIVE & FREE at the Dolphins! Celebrated as ‘Queen Of The High C’s’, Emily’s incomparable vocal talent has seen her enjoy a huge career at the forefront of the Australian and international entertainment industries.
We first met Emily back in 2005 on Network Ten’s ‘Australian Idol’ where she stormed the final two thanks to her iconic renditions of the most vocally challenging songs of all time. Though she ended being the season’s runner-up, Emily had already won the hearts of the nation!
Never defined by a single genre, when it came to solo music Emily drew inspiration from her soul, pop, dance and R&B influences to deliver something uniquely her.
As a Fiji-Samoan woman, born and raised in New Zealand, Emily grew up surrounded by culture, tradition and Christian values. Heritage and self identity has always been hugely important to her and is something she hopes to instil in the next generation of performers.
Musical success continued for Emily with singles, feature tracks and concept shows dropping constantly. These releases were brought together on ‘The Emily Williams Collection’ an album that celebrated Emily’s musical journey including fan favourites ‘The Way It Is’ ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ and ‘Falling For You’.
In 2023, Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian have made an electrifying announcement that has sent ripples of excitement through the entertainment world. The supremely talented Emily Williams, a rising star in her own right, is set to take on the iconic role of Rachel Marron in the internationally acclaimed sensation, 'The Bodyguard.' With an awe-inspiring blend of vocal prowess, charisma, and sheer star power, Williams is poised to captivate audiences in ways never seen before. However, her casting goes beyond the realms of mere performance, as she boldly steps into history as one of the pioneering women of Polynesian heritage to seize a leading role in a UK musical.
In September 2023, Emily was proudly announced as the Global Ambassador for "Women of Colour Australia," a role and organization that hold a special place in her heart.
As one of Australia’s most in-demand live performers, you never know what an Emily Williams show will bring. One thing’s for sure, Emily is a once in a generation talent that shows no sign of slowing!
