Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS), Climate Change and rising CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere are of great concern at this time.   Come along to the EcoCentre to find out more about the science behind Global Carbon Accounting.  Assoc. Prof. Peter Pollard will speak on his recent research.  Peter has identified an aquatic microbial pathway that returns organic carbon from forests back to the atmosphere.  This information is helping to more accurately describe the Global Carbon Cycle .

More information...

Synopsis: ?The Age of Stupid? is the new cinema documentary from the Director of ?McLibel? and the Producer of the Oscar-winning ?One Day in September?. This enormously ambitious dram-documentary-animation hybrid stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching ?archive? footage from 2008 and asking: why didn?t we stop climate change while we had the chance?

NEXT TUESDAY

Green Drinks Brisbane will be held on Tuesday 27 October. Two new items about Green Drinks Brisbane that you all might like to know:
  • Ashala Bar is under new management. I met with the new owner just before our September event and he agreed to give drink discounts to Green Drinks Brisbane in recognition of our continued support of his venue. He will subtract $1.00 from the bar prices for beers and wines. The exceptions to this offer is light beers and house wines. For those beverages, a 50 cent discount per drink will apply.
  • To aid green drinkers wanting contact each other after the event, I will circulate an 'attendees list' in the days after each event. This will be drawn from an optional list that attendees can complete on the night. Lists will only be circulated to the individuals that attended that particular month's event, and should hopefully avoid any "gee I wish I remember that person's name" moments that may have occurred in the past. Thanks to green drinker Dominic Eales for this top idea.

Please forward this invitation to anyone else that may be interested in attending. I will aim to send a reminder email in the days immediately before the event.

Cheers,

Stuart McMillen
