Let's connect, share empathy & learn: NVC Community & Learning Day. Booked: 15

The Bristol NVC Community and Learning Days have been running quarterly for a few years. They offer a safe space to experience NVC for the first time and to go deeper into the vital skills such as empathy, effective expression, dealing with anger, caring ways to say "no", handling conflict and more.

Developed by Dr Marshall Rosenberg, NVC is used as a very human and practical way to resolve differences and it's also a very beautiful perspective on life.

Where is there a difference between you and someone in your life that you don't yet know how to be with?

And why are we calling this group's members giraffes?

Giraffe is often used in NVC as a symbol of communicating from the heart and Dr Rosenberg playfully referred to NVC as "giraffe language". "Jackal" in turn symbolise a habitual and innocently judgmental way of thinking and speaking that we inherit from the general culture.

Chances are that you'll see a giraffe and jackal puppets sometime during the group because role playing can be very helpful to grapple with challenging conversations.

Did you have a chance to learn about dealing with differences and conflict in your formative years?

It's a rare school still that teaches how to bridge differences and resolve conflicts but thanks to Dr Rosenberg these vital skills are now in the world. We gather to share and practise them so it becomes more and more normal to speak and solve problems empathically.
