Jubilee Street party!

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE.
The biggest event we will see in our lifetimes!!

We have planned our Diamond Jubilee celebration to take place the same weekend as it is being celebrated in the U.K. The plan ( and we are hoping NOT to have typical English weather) is to have an outdoor barbeque. The committe will supply the hot dogs, burgers and buns. Every one else is asked to bring a side dish, salad, or crisps etc and a dessert, the dessert being typically British.

The afternoon will start at 3:00pm with Pimms (supplied by the committee) and whatever other drinks you bring along.

We plan to have croquet, badminton, a children's blow up soccer net and we can even russle up the odd game of cricket (anyone have any stumps?). We may be lucky enough to have a small bouncy castle, as well. There will also be some tents and fans for those who don't feel so energetic, or need to cool down. Please bring along your lawn chairs. We also have REAL British bingo to play, legs elevens and all!!

The barbeque will start around five or so, along with the serious bits of the event. Katie will read the Queen's speech --which is not long, so don't despair-- we shall sing a rousing rendition of Jerusalem, toast the Queen and get back to the main event of eating!

We have bunting, and hats, and all British music from the decades 1960's on. If it does end up raining you will really feel as though you are at home!

We have a few requests of members. Firstly, try to attend. This is only the second time since 1066 a Diamond Jubilee has occured, so it really is a big, big historic event.
We are hoping to be able to have a Tombola, but for that we need prizes and are open for donations.

We also have had Tee shirts made to celebrate the event. The front will have our new logo, designed by our very own Jason, and the back will commemorate the Diamond Jubilee. They are going to cost $15 this time as we had to pay for the set-up and design. In future, we will be able to make use of the logo and have our own tee shirts for various things at a much lower rate. $1.00 of the cost is going towards offsetting the Pimms. All sizes are available from Children through Adult. (picture to follow) . We need to have our order in by the end of the week, so plese let us know how many you would like and what sizes.
