Hey everypony, Gabriel Umbert (StephaneColibri) here! What happens when you get cannons, explosives, rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, bows, swords, knives, thousands of rounds of ammunition, DJ Hollowpoint, a dance floor, a hot tub, a theater room prepped for gaming & movies, a bonfire, a starry sky, a giant batch of my clerico, guest beds for VIP attendees, breakfast, lunch, and dinner all on one wubtastic and boomalicious Saturday? The Brony Shoot: Friendship is Range Time meetup! Or, after nightfall, SpicerCon!

WARNING: Because this meetup has minors and firearms we are asking people not to bring any alcohol. We will however supply a batch of clerico after weapons are locked away. Again, due to the nature of this event DO NOT BRING any alcohol! There will be light alcoholic beverages once shooting is finished for those who are 21+, but there will be NO HEAVY DRINKING!

"But I don't KNOW how safely use any of these oh so fun but dangerous things! What ever will I do? Surely this means I shouldn't attend?" And I say to you in response.. NEIGH! We're going to have 8+ bronies teach, train, and supervise you before you ever start shooting and while you're on the range.

On Saturday morning we'll have breakfast, and at about 9:00 am we'll begin the meetup with an instruction on everything you need to know, you wanted to know, and wished you would have wanted to know! The courses will conclude at noon, and at noon we'll all have lunch together. Yay food! After we've satisfied the rumblies that only hands can satisfy, we'll be putting our weapons to good use until sundown. But wait, there's more! Only a few ponies can be on the lanes at once, so while nearly everypony is waiting their turn to get some range time there's plenty of stuff for y'all to do. There's a hot tub that'll be running throughout Saturday, so bring swimwear! There's a theater room which is ready to be used for gaming and cinema, so make sure to bring your consoles and discs (internet can be spotty though, so make sure you can play local)! Ninja's gonna be a showoff just how you like, and you can rest assured he'll be bringing his blades and you can watch him chop up watermelons and stuff to your eyes' content. Also, DJ Hollowpoint wants to record footage of the meetup and create a PMV set to The Living Tombstone's song "Guncakes ft. Yelling at Cats" for submission to EQD, so if you have cameras then bring them! On the shooting range, once we're done shooting all the firearms, using up all the ammunition, blowing up all Tannerite explosive targets, and shooting off our very own cannon we'll close down the range at sundown. We'll follow up with a short course on weapon cleaning and maintenance, and then we'll clean the firearms we used. At that point all weapons will be safely stored away and made inaccessible to the attendees. Then it's time for dinner! Oh, and now that all the weapons have been safely locked away, that means there's no longer any excuse for us to keep the alcohol from flowing (responsibly.. VERY responsibly and with prudence please)! I'll be providing the attendees with a giant batch of my clerico, but keep in mind it is FORBIDDEN for any attendee to bring any alcohol to the meetup.

Now that we've had dinner, and we're living Princess Luna's night, we'll light up the bonfire which is located just inside the woods – so, you should bring ingrediants to make s'mores and such! If you'd like to stargaze, you'll gave a good view of the stars and constellations overhead (although tall trees block your view of the horizon), so bring you telescopes! The hot tub will still be open, as it's open throughout all of Saturday. The theater room will likewise still be open, as it's open throughout all of Saturday. And now for the best part of the night: DJ Hollowpoint will be playing a four hour set of body rockin' wubs, and we'll have an open dance floor to accommodate you all!!! Once you decide to go to sleep, rest assured that there is space for everypony to sleep. VIP attendees (e.g. females, those who need to) will be provided with guest beds and rooms to the best of our abilities. For everypony else there's enough space for you to sleep on the floor indoors, and weather permitting you may even sleep outside under the stars. Remember to bring to bring everything you'll need to sleep! Don't forget to bring boots as well, as it may be muddy out by the range or woods! And if you'd like to cosplay or such, go ahead and bring multiple changes of clothes!

It's gonna happen on Saturday, March 23 at Spicermedic's property in Virginia. However, you CAN arrive the Friday before, spend the night, wake up and be with us on Saturday, spend another night, and depart the following Sunday morning. If you choose to arrive on Friday, March 22 then BE AWARE that Spicermedic won't be able to receive you until some time after 4:00 pm on Friday. To get to Spicermedic's place you're pretty much gonna need a private vehicle, BUT the Rideshare google doc is available to help you coordinate your transportation, and if need be just send me a message and I'll do my best to help you. The closest metro stop can be reached by taking the the Orange Line to the Vienna Metro Station. For those who can't make use of public transportation to get as far as Vienna/Fairfax, we'll drive to you if you can't solve your problem by using the Rideshare doc – just contact me in advance and I'll work to help you. We're already planning on driving to Baltimore for a pickup, so if you really NEED logistical accommodation, we'll make sure you get here.

Upon arrival at Spicermedic's property any weapons/ammunition of every kind (except utility knives, et cetera) will be checked in and surrendered. Attendees are forbidden from bringing any alcohol to this meetup – any alcohol will be confiscated and you may be kicked. Failure to check and surrender the aforementioned contraband and abide by these rules is grounds for confiscation and/or banishment!

Now, for those of you who can help, we need you to read this. There's two things we need to make this happen: (1) arms/ammunition, and (2) volunteers. If you have any firearms, and are generous enough to bring them along to this meetup, then head to the "Munitions List" doc and enumerate the calibers, number of firearms, and any related notes there. If you have any experience that qualifies you to volunteer, please do volunteer. We're going to need volunteers to serve as Teachers, Lane Officers, and Munition Officers. Head to the "Volunteers" doc and write your name under every role you can fill. NOW FOR THE REST OF YOU... There's something you CAN do even if you don't have any firearms or experience to contribute. We need more ammo! There's two things any of you can do, and that we're asking you to pretty please do. You could either show up to the meetup with a few hundred rounds or more of ammunition, or you could send any of the cohosts for this meetup money so that we can buy more ammunition on your behalf. This is really important, and we need everypony's help when it comes to ammo. When purchasing ammo to bring, refer to the "Munitions List" doc for which calibers will be used at the meetup.

The cohosts for this meetup are: Gabriel Umbert (StephaneColibri), Spicermedic (Jeremy Spicer), Tim "DJ Hollowpoint" (Timothy Lutter), and Alexander Beck.

This was pretty much Cloudcon, the explosive after party! Guns, a party cannon, over 20 people who have never shot before learning how, bows, swords... and then a couple gallons of fantastic Argentinian mixed drink, live music (sorry about no house music Gabe, that will be fixed for next time!), and then everybody crashing. You guys are awesome! Big thanks to the Spicer family for hosting us, and feeding the small army that showed up! This was awesome! And did I mention ponies?

That was so awesome. :3 Accidentally ended up with someone else's machete instead of mine. Mine's the one that looks like someone sharpened it with an angle grinder. If you are missing a machete and green canvas machete sheath, message me and I'll get it back to you.

Absolutely amazing. This was my first meetup (like George) and I had a fantastic time. I was a bit apprehensive about the whole thing, but I had no reason to be nervous. Everyone was very welcoming and the event was run superbly. Thank you to everyone from the Spicer family to the Hollowpoints to the range crew to the whole group. This meetup was a trial run and I had such a good time that I'm planning on attending future events.

I had such an amazing time, you have NO idea. I love these over night meet up that we do, it's really fun. As three, possibly four of you have noticed, if you need anything I will drop what I'm doing to help, give hugs, rub your back, let you lay your head on my lap, or even if it's just letting you rest your head at my shoulder. But, I had fun nerf gunning people. silly stringing, hot tub times were fun, specially the second round where I basically fell in getting in.. and sitting by the campfire stoking the fire was fun! Minus a few sour pusses I say we should do this again very very soon! Maybe when the nights are warm so we can have both the pool and the hot tub open!

    March 22, 2013

Well, my .308 is.. exactly that. .308 is the civilian version of 7.62x51 NATO (and there are really no differences between the two), which is the round used in the still in-service M21, M24A1, and M25 Sniper Weapon Systems (to name a few). The only real difference is I haven't had the opportunity to get a better scope on my .308, so it's stuck with a 3-9x40 scope.
