Details

The Cloisters is a museum of medieval art in a castle on the heights above the Hudson River in northern Manhattan.

There is a musical art installation of the "Forty Part Motet" in one of the acoustically stunning chapels. This audio installation is a polyphonic tonal choral work sung in forty individual parts. These parts are played from forty individual speakers spaced around the chapel. It is a truly transcendent experience unlike any other I've had.

Take a look at this link to check it out:

Additionally, there are the world famous "Unicorn Tapestries" from the 15th century along side a full castle of amazing art.

There is a suggested donation requested at the door of $25 (only tourists pay this) but you can pay as little as $1.

There are also amazing views all around the castle of the Hudson River, George Washington Bridge and Northern Manhattan.

This event is on Black Friday and is as far away from the midtown shopping insanity as possible while still being in Manhattan.

Getting There

By Subway/Bus
Take the A train to 190th Street and exit the station by elevator. Walk north along Margaret Corbin Drive for approximately ten minutes or transfer to the M4 bus and ride north one stop.

By Car
Take Henry Hudson Parkway northbound to the first exit after George Washington Bridge (Fort Tryon Park—The Cloisters). This exit is only accessible from the northbound lane; if coming from the north, take Henry Hudson Parkway southbound to exit 14–15, make a U-turn, and travel north one mile to the exit marked Fort Tryon Park—The Cloisters.

Where to Meetup
