BroNYCon January 2012

This is our first BroNYCon of 2012! What makes a BroNYCon different from a regular Bronies-NYC meetup? Simple: BroNYCons are the BIG ones! If you are coming from out of state and can only make one event of ours, make it a BroNYCon! These are when we pull out all the stops to pull in bronies from across the region and the nation. If you're local, you should be coming to our meetups every month anyways! ;) Price includes one (1) raffle ticket. The first 20 pre-payers are VIPs and will get quadruple raffle tickets for four times the chance to win! VIPs also get special seating in front for the finale.

How to get into the con: All paying attendees will receive a Personal Code, which will be emailed to your Paypal email address within 24 hours prior to the convention. Present this code to get yourself and any guests (+1s, +2s, etc.) into the convention. As a backup, try to bring a copy of your Paypal receipt, either printed or on a phone or tablet. Fear not: If you paid, you WILL get in.

The first 100 registrants receive double raffle tickets.

NOTE: TICKETS AT THE DOOR WILL BE $45 (And you won't get a nice pre-printed name badge, just a generic empty one!) RSVP today to save money, look sharper, AND speed through registration!

Confirmed Guests of Honour and Special Appearances:

• Voice actress ANDREA LIBMAN (voice of Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy)

• Voice actress NICOLE OLIVER (voice of Princess Celestia, Cheerilee)

• Voice actress ASHLEIGH BALL (voice of Rainbow Dash, Applejack)

• Editor SETHISTO of Equestria Daily!

• Famous pony artists JOHN JOSECO, EGOPHILIAC, and PIXELKITTIES!

• Famous pony musicians CHAINALGORITHM and TARBY!

• and MANY MORE! See the full list at http://www.bronycon.org/who.html

HEY! Did anypony lose a Zoom H4N Style Microphone grip? It even says "Zoom" on it, thought I didn't see anypony else there with one... They mysteriously multiplied somehow in my backpack, now I have TWO; just looking for an explanation~

@terence well if you can get down to boston you can have some

The only thing I can really criticize was the venue, which was pretty small for the amount of attendees. Otherwise, the whole con ran pretty smoothly, not to mention all the guests were super awesome! Will definitely attend the Summer BroNYcon if it doesn't fill up!

Probably in my hotel room. I had to have been barefoot at the time, but it showed up on my foot about two days after I left.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to the volunteers/security for taking care of us artists in the alley and passing us water time to time! And thanks for feeding me pizza, Wendy!

Wow... that was also unintentionally not-bad. That reporter is trying so hard to troll, I'd dare say he comes off as a fiercely-closeted brony. At least it's a step up above LAST year's Fox coverage. >>

Fox News's report actually made us look pretty legit. They cherry picked footage but they didn't have much to mock.

  • Kar

uh. eh... Well it could have been worse, a LOT worse!
I remember that guy, he came around my table and filmed my customs and stuffed ponies. I was in costume (artsy beatnik Rarity) and he asked who I was dressed up as. I forget what else I said to him about My Little Pony but I suppose I wasn't parodyable enough so they didn't use it.

The line wasnt that bad provided i came after watching the episode at home and left home late lol not much to do between panels and despit the overcrowding i felt alone but the cosplay, web comics, and mane 6 fighting game was aewsome

Overall, BroNYCon was AWESOME FUN. It's easily the most fun I've had at a convention in over a decade. While starting out was pretty rough--I waited three hours in line for registration--I have a few ideas on how to improve this the next time around. I _HIGHLY_ suggest opening registration several hours ahead of programming, and even letting early arrivals register the night before. It doesn't necessarily need to be done with a professional service, as I've seen conventions do it with volunteers. For the volume expected I'd suggest two dedicated lines, one for pre-reg and one for walk-ins. I would NOT start events at the same time registration starts. I would also suggest printing schedules out and including them with convention baggie, as not everyone has or wants a smartphone/laptop/iPad/wifi-doohickey. :) I think it might be neat to also include a convention booklet with info about the con, staff, and guests of honor. It doesn't need to be a fancy production. :)

Are there any BroNYCon posters or T shirts (or anything) left over for purchase from the con store? I never did get my shopping in, I had wanted a couple souvenirs and realized too late that I'd forgotten to buy them!
