Let's get together for PCR and Pizza!

PCR (polymerase chain reaction) is one of the fundamental techniques of molecular biology, and a great way to get your hands wet in the lab. A few years ago, two NYC high school students became famous for using PCR and DNA barcoding to test their food, showing that local sushi restaurants were lying about their fish and expensive goat cheese was sometimes made of cow's milk. Do your Ikea meatballs contain horsemeat? Bring a sample and we'll show you how to test it! A fun night of pizza, beer, discussions and of course PCR.

The easiest way to get to Genspace is to take the 2,3,4 or 5 train to Nevins Street. If you re coming from Manhattan we will be across Flatbush from the station. My cell number will be posted on the door. There is a big construction site next to us so the entrance is under scaffolding.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
