It's been shown many times that hands-on learning is most effective. That's my preferred way to engage a new subject.
Currently I am using DNA barcoding to catalog plants of the Alaskan tundra.
I'm a molecular biologist turned biohacker. In 2009 I co-founded Genspace, the world's first community biolab, in Brooklyn NY. I believe that democratization of biotech will result in better public understanding of it and jumpstart innovation.
I was really impressed with how congenial the group was, and how late we ended up hanging out and talking because we were having such a good time.
