I'm relatively new to Seattle having recently relocated from Atlanta, Ga. The purpose of this group is to connect with other brown mom's and dads in Seattle for play dates, book clubs, coffee/tea, you name it. We can bond over a desire to create a community to introduce our children to others who look like them and share similar cultural backgrounds.
I hate to have to add this comment, but this is not an anti-group against any other race or ethnicity, rather it is akin to the Chinese Moms group that is also on this site, it is a forum for black parents to also have a community that allows us to speak openly about shared experiences and/or perspectives, and to just have fun connecting. I liken it to the national organization Mocha Moms, but inclusive of dads as well. :)
