Brunching In Baltimore Message Board › Group Gratuity
This message board is read-only.
This may seem strange, that I need to explain what a GRATUITY/TIP is, but here it goes:
Most restaurants reserve the right to add a group gratuity to any party of a certain number of people –it is the policy of Brunching In Baltimore to give a 20% unless an higher rate/amount is requested by the restaurant.
You may not realize what “extra” efforts that goes on behind the scenes for each of our fabulous brunch events. Not only do your organizers (Marie and Jeff) schedule events on the calendar – but we research and visit restaurants, test menus, often negotiate with these establishment to ensure that our group will have full menu options, be seated comfortable, served in a timely manner and have an overall positive experience.
This may mean that a restaurant may have to assign additional staff (both as servers and in the kitchen) and/or order additonal food to handle our often-big group headcounts (this is another reason why your RSVP is so important) while also attending to needs of their other patrons.
If you are bad with math, most phones have a calculator function – use it!
For example, if your subtotal amounts to $18, do not think a $20 bill covers your tax and tip ($22.68). You may be thinking - CHILL - it’s only a difference of $2.68. However, if 15 people did the same, our bill will be short over $40.
Bottom-line, if you do not want to TIP or you only tip 10% normally, then this group is not for you.
