The Cherry Blossom Challenge is a regular orienteering event with one 2.8 kilometer course. Registration begins at 11:00 am near the Buffalo History Museum on Nottingham Terrace near Elmwood Avenue.

The course is designed for everyone to enjoy. Beginners and veterans alike will have some fun on the course in Delaware Park. Both walkers and runners can participate.

If you are a beginner and need some instruction just ask when you register and you'll be set up in a small group with an instructor. You'll learn how to read the topographic map, use the compass and navigate to the controls. Then you'll head out on the course.

After the meet you're welcome to stay in the park to enjoy Buffalo's 3rd Annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

The cost for the meet is $5 for Buffalo Orienteering Club (http://www.buffalo-orienteering.org/) members and $10 for non-members payable when you arrive. For groups participating together the fee is the $5 or $10 listed above for the group leader plus $2 for every other member of the group over 11 years old. No fees are collected through this meetup group. Meetup membership is not the same as club membership. A Buffalo Orienteering Club membership entitles you to discounts at meets, an invitation to the annual meeting, the newsletter and email news. Additionally, membership allows the club to continue to run meets and events like this one. A membership form can be found here (http://www.buffalo-orienteering.org/forms/Membership%20Application.pdf).

Your RSVP will ensure there is a map available for you when you arrive. If you have any questions you're welcome to ask in the comments.

We hope to see you out there!
