We are a group of writers (both published and unpublished) who meet several times each month to share what we are working on, and to discuss the writing life and other topics as they relate to writing.
If members so choose, they can bring work with them to Meetups to read aloud to the group for the purpose of helpful, constructive feedback. We believe in honest, constructive feedback, but not feedback that is delivered in an overly harsh or rude way. It is our intent to honor each other's thoughts and words, and provide a solid support system that will encourage and motivate each of us. Only you can decide what critique to use or discard.
We meet at several different venues for convenience. At The Corner Bakery and Café, usually on Tuesdays or Thursday, the first meet of the month is reserved for short work, 1500-1600 words or so, while the later meet is open to longer pieces of up to 4-6 pages per person, so that we can get a feel for a whole chapter or two.
At Presto Café in Allentown, feel free to bring sections of 1600 words or so. Meetings at Presto take place on Wednesdays in the weeks between the other meetups.
Occasional other meetups may occur at The Buffalo Tap Room on Eggert & Sheridan, and once in a while, special events at a member's home.
We'll be having some freewriting sessions using exercises/prompts also, in the near future, speakers when we can get them, and in-depth workshops on various genres, or aspects of publishing.
Due to problems with a former member, there is a personal photo requirement for joining this group. If you so wish, you may send a pic to our co-organizer Mari at email@example.com, and keep whatever profile pic you desire.
Mari will delete any such photos sent; they are for initial identification purposes only. We appreciate your compliance.
It would also be convenient and helpful if new members filled out their profile info, including an email for the mailing list. We do not require that you subscribe to organizer messages, but we ask that you do, in order to maintain good communication and group harmony.
