I created this group because it is so hard to have time with girlfriends' because of the 24 hour aspect of this town. A lot of us have crazy hours and/or days off. On top of that many are juggling work, family and/or children. Our social lives and our "me" time has become extremely limited. Now, we can spend time with other women who can relate... and also have time to relax and enjoy each others' company. This group isn't about how many members I have or how many events are posted, but a group to really enjoy each others' company and make lasting friendships.
First, I want this group to welcome all newcomers and make everyone feel like a part of the group. I know sometimes meetups are especially intimidating when you're new, but I like to make everyone feel special to the group..because they are. Without you, we wouldn't have a group. To a lot of events, you can bring a friend but if you don't have anyone to bring don't let it stop you from coming. I'm sure we'll end up making some lasting friendships as the meetups grow. You can always e-mail me if you want me to meet you outside an event first if you're intimidated to walk in alone! I know how this is because I'm naturally pretty shy myself until you get to know me.
Secondly, I want everyone to be serious about the RSVP's. I'm hoping in the near future we can get a lot of discounts and in order to do that, we need to show up when we say we will. There's nothing more frustrating when a vendor extends us a discount because we say we will have 20 women at our event and they do everything to accomodate us, and then one person shows up. It's a good way to burn bridges with those vendors and it's also embarrassing for the organizers and assistants who are trying to book good events at a better price.
I realize sometimes things happen, so take the time to update your RSVP and try not to back out on things you RSVP'd for within 24 hours.
Thirdly, since this is a new meetup group, I am always open to new suggestions and also new organizers. If you're interested in being an organizer or have ideas on how to better the group, please let me know.
Thank you ladies and hope to see you soon!
