Discuss "The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming" by Henri Nouwen.

We will discuss the first half of "The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming" by Henri Nouwen. Laurie will facilitate the discussion.

Henri Nouwen's meditation on Rembrandt's painting brings to mind themes and characters we've encountered in our readings. Are you reminded of any literary characters as you read? What concepts are augmented by Nouwen's exploration of the story of the Prodigal Son?

Please gather your thoughts and material and bring them to our discussion! We'll do our best to try to get to them all over the course of our two meetings.

Attached below is the link to Rembrandt's painting, which hangs in the Hermitage in Russia. As you check out that site, there's a close-up of the father's face. It's a stunning image.

Enjoy your reading and I look forward to seeing you!

Many more than 5 at this meetup and new faces too are so welcome. Wonderful discussion of how Nouwen's journey resonates in our lives. Hope you also found the conversation beneficial and I'm looking forward to Part 2 (-:
