Overnight train (for those travelling by train):
This is going to be an insane fantastic group trip. We travel all together as a group by Eurostar to Paris, then overnight TGV (in 6 sleeper "courchettes") to Annecy where you'll be picked up, and a short transfer to the Chalet in La Clusaz. A completely civilized way to travel, no luggage restrictions, no mad rush queuing for hours and waiting at airports, take a stroll over to St Pancras with your board or skis, and chill out on the train to Paris, then put your head down and sleep ... or party on the overnight and wake up in the mountains.
About the diggs ( Chalet Hirondelle )
Chalet Les Hirondelles is spacious and truly luxurious with upgraded facilities and plenty of space to relax and unwind. Log fires, cosy lounges (three, two of these have log fires), stunning location, sun terrace and peace and quiet make this chalet the ideal Alpine getaway location. Add to this the attentive personal service and chauffeur driven vehicles to take you to and from the skiing you have the perfect luxury holiday retreat. If we said that the guest list has included Sting and family then you will get the idea!

La Clusaz (About the resort): If you haven’t heard of La Clusaz it is because it isn’t teeming with English – which is refreshing. The ski area is a sizeable 220km, definitely good for all levels but especially intermediates. Unlike some of the more famous areas, the slopes don’t get too busy and there are some very accessible powder options. Unlike some of the more famous places the powder doesn’t get tracked out, so if there is fresh snow we are in for crazy times! Our venue has meeting rooms, projectors, wifi + more, perfect for teams to break away & code on crazy shit till wee hours.
About the NoSQL unconference:
Take a dash of some of the smartest developers around, and sprinkle of inspirational mountains and snow, and you have one of the most chilled way possible to spend a week coding and learning and sharing as well as great networking. On the first evening session topics are voted for and selected with break out areas allocated so that there's a full week of intense working hard, and playing hard, you choose how much and when of each. Previous snowcode-s typically have been morning till afternoon ... hit the snow, and coding workshops and sessions in the evening till late. If there's poor visibility (whiteout or other) on any day, then head back early crack through that new framework or pair on some technical problem.

Each year we pick a different theme for Snowcode that's language neutral, giving us the opportunity to attract great minds from across the industry remaining language agnostic. last year's theme was Node.JS + CSS + Html 5...and this year's theme was an absolute no-brainer ... it just had to be NoSQL! Choosing a language agnostic theme allows .net developers to pair program and code alongside java devs, and/or Ruby or node.js devs, it doesn't matter what language you're most comfortable with, you can learn and share with each other best practices and latest NoSQL libraries and frameworks. Whatever your poison ... Mongo, Couch, Riak, Neo, Redis, Hbase, plus many more... it doesn't matter whether you're into columns or tables or graphs!
Here's a video from a previous snowcode to give you a feel for the vibe of a typical snowcode event! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpw81UkWmww)
