What I Wish I'd Known: Avoiding publishing pitfalls from draft to deal

Authors Leigh Bardugo (Shadow and Bone) and Jennifer Bosworth (Struck) will discuss common mistakes made by first-time authors and the things they wish they'd done differently on the road to publication. Topics will include: how to build a better first draft, balancing critique and community with the integrity of personal voice, researching and approaching agents, what to expect when you're on submission, and how to evaluate your publishing deal. They'll also shed light on what happens after the sale and what you may want to know as you work with editors and publicists to polish and promote your book. The authors have requested the you bring the following materials for the workshop on Saturday:

  1. Your loglines - one or two sentences that describe what your manuscript is about.

  2. An SASE - Self Addressed Stamped Envelope

  3. Questions you might want to ask them. The workshop will be divided into two parts: Draft and Business, and each will have a Q & A portions at the end.

NOTE:

The workshop is FREE, but you are encouraged to purchase a copy/copies of Jennifer and Leigh's Books. This is our way of showing our support and gratitude to Jennifer and Leigh, for generously donating their time and sharing their wisdom with us.
