A meetup for country musicians to throwdown good country music in an open, easy-goin’ way. We jam traditional, retro, alt.country, western swing, Bakersfield, honky tonk, outlaw country. Hank, Merle, Cash, Willie, Jones, Patsy, Loretta, Wayne Hancock, Hank Thompson, BR-549, Hank III, Asleep at the Wheel, The Derailers, Webb Pierce, Gram Parsons, Jayhawks, Whiskeytown, Eleven Hundred Springs and so forth. Original country music most welcomed.
Sorry, no pop country allowed at any time.
All instruments welcomed, but this is for players with intermediate to advance abilities. You don’t need to be a pro-player that can solo for days or just coming off tour, but you should know how to play in a band (i.e, checking volume, allowing space, dynamics, etc.)
The Throwdowns work like this: we rent out a rehearsal space (LA WestSide primarily), plug in, and jam country music. We go with whatever instrument shows up (mostly guitars from past experience) and pass around the mic so everyone gets a chance to hit the spotlight. The goal is to have fun, stretch out the chops, share music and meet new musicians who share a love for good country music.
Throwdowns are generally once per month, more if there's a request or a gig. There will be a nominal fee if you plan on coming to a Throwdown to handle the rehearsal room cost. Someone always brings libations as well.
So, I hope you’re interested ‘nough to sign up and spread the word around to musician friends. This is a great chance to meetup other musicians, jam, form bands, try out songs and just have a good time making country music.
Thanks and look forward to meetin’ y’all!
