CHCH.JS

CHCH.JS is a JavaScript-focused meetup based in Christchurch, New Zealand, bringing together developers of all backgrounds who are interested in learning, sharing, and connecting.
We revived the meetup in late 2025 and now meet at MadeCurious HQ (100 Carlyle Street, Sydenham). Our goal is to create a friendly, inclusive space where people can learn from each other and feel comfortable getting involved — whether that’s by attending, speaking, or just having a chat.

Our meetups typically run every six weeks and usually include one or more talks, along with time to catch up with others in the community. At the start of each event, we open the floor for around 10–15 minutes for anyone who wants to:

• say they’re looking for a job
• look for collaborators
• share what they’re working on
• or simply introduce themselves

We’ve also started recording talks and uploading them to our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@CHCHJS), so people who can’t attend in person can still engage with the content, and speakers have a recorded contribution they can share.

While we’re called CHCH.JS, this meetup isn’t just about frontend development. JavaScript and TypeScript are part of almost every stack now — frontend, backend, mobile, infrastructure, maps, tooling, and more. Talks can range from beginner-friendly to deep technical dives, and no topic is “too niche” for the right audience.
We’re always keen to hear from new speakers. If you have an idea, want to give a talk, or just want to talk something through, please reach out — this is a supportive space and we’re happy to help.
