City & State Short Film Program at Chicago International Film Festival

Let's go to the last event of the Chicago International Film Festival: City & State Short Film Program.

International Screenings is the highlight event of the International Connections Program. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to theater capacity. Films are unrated. Viewer discretion is advised.

This showcase of the best new shorts by talented local filmmakers includes narrative, documentary, and animated works. Three Chicago window cleaners wax lyrical as they work on a high rise in Paradise. A corpse wakes up to say a last goodbye to his wife in CADAVER (pictured), featuring the voice talents of Christopher Lloyd and Kathy Bates. An epic romance is reimagined in a queer light in THE QUEEN OF MY DREAMS. Brad spends his final night in the suburbs alongside his older brother in WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM. A human trafficker becomes stranded in the lush Serbian countryside in THE RUNNER. Cole is home for the holidays... and now they’re over in AFTER CHRISTMAS. In the darkly comedic WEDNESDAY’S CHILD a young girl’s plans to teach her parents a lesson goes horribly awry. 80 minutes. In English. post-screening discussion

We will meet in front of the entrance and will go in at about 6:20pm. We won't have much time to socialize or wait for everyone so if you miss us, just go in by yourself.

Sorry if we missed someone. We were in front of the entrance to the theater but just a few people show up. The screening was a bit disappointing to my taste as I only liked one piece (the cartoon). Should we continue doing the short films like that?

Hi, I am happy to organize meeting afterwards if people have any ideas of bars or cafés that are open in that area at night.

Thank you, Jessica, for your offer to organize something after the film.
It rather be some cafe than a bar as more people would probably prefer drinking tea/coffee than an alcohol.
The challenge is to find a place that would easily fit a flexible number of people (from 5 to 50). If you may have some ideas please come a bit before the film so we could talk about it. I will be in front of the theater wearing a name tag.
If anyone else may have some suggestions, please see me before the film to talk about it. I won't have much time to be checking the messages before the film. Thank you.

How did I get to be the event host? I never volunteered to do that. I'm not even sure I can be there by 6:15.

Helen - I added you as the event host per your email sent to me on April 27th. If something changed, please email me.

Don't think I'll be able to get there early enough. :(

Get there early. It is a small theater and screenings fill up fast.

Could we choose a place to meet afterwards to chat about the films?

    September 19, 2013

    • Vadim

It's very hard to say how many people will actually show up and how many will stay after the film but it would be great if you or someone else could organize a meeting after the screening for 10 to 50 people where we could possibly grab a cup of tea/coffee or just discuss the film. Feel free to contact me directly if needed: http://www.meetup.com...
