BEYOND POLLUTION film screening + discussion

Join us for the CHICAGO PREMIERE of the hit documentary BEYOND POLLUTION

Film DIRECTOR Barker White and PRODUCER Harper Robinson will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A!! Come and meet the pro's!

Film Synopsis: A firsthand investigation of BP's disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, this film uncovers what really happened and why. The production team traveled across the gulf coast interviewing environmental experts, government authorities, fishermen, scientists, drilling engineers and key BP contractors to unveil a shocking tale of greed and corruption that culminated in the largest man-made environmental disaster in America's history. Beyond Pollution examines the economic impact and health effects this tragedy will have on the local communities, both immediate and long term, and how the communities are fighting back to save their towns and the planet.

Directed by Barker White // USA, 2012, 90 min

Chicago Filmmakers is the organizer for this event and thier suggested admission is $8 - but mention you're on the CIDFilms Meetup group and it's only $5! (Admission helps to pay the filmmakers for their work and the venues for their space, continue to provide filmmaking services to the Chicagoland community, and to continue supporting independent film - 38 years and going!)

This is another joint event between Chicagoland Independent & Documentary Films (CIDFilms), The Chicago Rainforest Action Network (RAN), and Chicagoland Green & Eco-living (CGE).

Vadim . . . Thanks for organizing this event. If it had not been for the meetup, I probably would not have the event. I wasn't aware that BP's clean-up strategy focused on dispersal rather than skimming. Despite what the media has reported, it doesn't surprise me that the fishing industry & restaurant owners in the Gulf have not been "made whole." The greed, the abuse of power & the extent to which the oil, gas, coal & nuclear industries control & manipulate people knows no bounds. I am planning on going to see Bill McKibben, a scientist who perhaps is the most foremost expert on global warming & climate change in N. America, speak in a couple of weeks when his tour comes to Chicago. I have also joined an environmental book discussion group as part of a meetup. Ultimately we're going to have to make big changes in our lifestyles if the human species is going to survive. Sorry I didn't get a chance to stay & meet everyone afterwards but look forward to doing so in the future.

I work for an oil company (not BP, a competitor) - I am looking forward to this film
