For June we'll be reading the first published book in the Narnia trilogy, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. As most of you know, this is the book that situated Lewis as a hallmark of Christian storytelling. For many of us, it was the first book by Lewis we were introduced to when we were read the Narnian series by a parent or guardian.
I want to make a special invitation to those who have children this month. While some of our months might not be intended for a child audience (A Grief Observed), this book unquestionably is. If you have a boy or girl who hasn't read this book, why not read them The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in June, and then bring them on the 28th to Piecoras? We adults would benefit from their energy and insight.
Please bring your copy of the book as well as a few sections that were meaningful to you. We'll overview the book and then take turns sharing what parts stood out to each of us.
The book can be picked up at the Seattle library, or can be purchased at your local bookstore like Twice Sold Tales in Capitol Hill for cheap. Otherwise, I'm sure Half Price Books, Amazon.com, or Half.com will all have it in availability.
Looking forward to seeing everybody,
Simon
