NYC Scratch Educator Meetup - March 2015 Edition

Details
Hi everyone,
Thank you to everyone who came out Tues night for our evening meetup. It was the largest event we've had to date and we are really stoked that there were so many new faces in the mix. If you are looking to get involved w/ one of the groups, all of their information is on the cheat sheet here: http://tinyurl.com/NYCCSEDOpp
Now, onto Scratch Meetup...
One of the more frequent comments we've received is that teachers would really benefit from more structured lesson plans. So in January, we tested out a new format (a mini-Scratchathon) where some break out sessions focused on the creation of specific lesson plans for either a grade level or subject vertical. Derek talked about Digital Collage Design w/ Scratch and Sean talked about transitioning from block to syntactical programming.

Derek's talk will be available on video soon. Stay tuned.
At this March edition, we will continue this format and offer everyone structured takeaways as well as 'unconference' style open sessions. We have great presentations in the works from physical computing to game design and geometry!
If you would like to present for the April Scratch Meetup, please fill out this simple application - bit.ly/scratchWorkshop.
Stay warm everyone! and happy valentine's day ;)
