Directed by the acclaimed Italian director Marco Bellocchio, Dormant Beauty (Bella Addormentata) is a compelling ensemble drama in which characters in three interrelated storylines struggle with the moral impasses and compromises of modern life. The film's point of departure is a real-life right-to-euthanasia case that became a national controversy in Italy in 2008...

Interesting motion picture - granted, it's no "Snowpiercer" or "Mother" :) Nevertheless, it was thought-provoking, and the company was GREAT (as usual). See you all soon, right?

You are absolutely right about the addict. Most characters in the movie were emotionally dead or on some kind of life support, many of them have something of Eluana, maybe that's why we did not even see her in the movie.

Even though the film dragged at times and it featured political innuendoes that perhaps only people from Italy would get, it did bring up very poignant and thought-provoking universal subjects and situations that are rarely talked about. I particularly felt that the relationship between the addict and the doctor was outstanding, it only took one soul (in this case the doctor) to care about her, to show he believed in her so she could wake up from her emotional stupor, her emotional death. However, hundreds of people spent their time and energy on a very politicized case of someone who had been clinically dead for -17 years-... Maybe perhaps we should start paying more attention to those around us who are still alive who might truly need a hand?... As for dinner afterwards, it was FUN!
