My Journey from U of C Grad to Working at One of the World's Top Internet Brands

Details

Where did the summer go? It just seems like yesterday that we were wrapping up the 2012/2013 season with a great presentation from Jonathan Rasmusson, and here it is and we're already ready talking about September's session. We're starting off CAMUG's 2013/2014 season with a great presentation by Masud Khan (http://www.linkedin.com/in/masudio). Masud is living the dream, having been recruited from the U of C by no less than Amazon, where he currently works, and is based out of beautiful Seattle, Washington. We thought Masud had a great story to tell, both with respect to how he got to Amazon and how things have unfolded for him in the past year. Here's the opportunity to get a first-hand account of how Agile gets done at Amazon, one of the web's great success stories.

Abstract and Agenda:

Masud says: "My success at getting the job I wanted at a company I'm excited about is a direct result of the choices I made in school, the passion I've grown for software, and the experience I gathered in interviewing. The challenges I've faced since starting were not the ones I expected and some of those same struggles continue today. This talk will be about how I maximized my chances at becoming an Software Development Engineer at an Internet giant, and day-to-day challenges I've faced in the year that I've been there."
