Do you like classic TV and want to share the good old stuff with others?
Interested in getting out to see the latest movie releases?
Stuck on a budget, and don't get out to see as much as you'd like?
Calgary Flicks & Video Picks is intended to provide for the budget-conscious fan of small screen and big - theatre movies as well as DVD picks (movies and TV) that are worth watching a second time.
You might be surprised to find some of your old favourites out on DVD!
I haven't figured out exactly what format this group will take, but I hope to find volunteers to assist me in hosting "bring-your-own-snacks-&-drinks" evenings or weekend afternoons, where we can sit back & enjoy the classics (old and new!).
My tastes are quite eclectic - while I love an intelligent comedy as much as an action shoot-'em-up, I can enjoy a period drama, foreign art film or an animated dumb-fest.
So grab some popcorn and let's see what treasures we can find & share!
I won't plan to charge a regular fee for this group, but if DVD rentals are in order, then a contribution (say, $1) towards that, should cover anyone's costs.
Nov 23 - sorry about the cancellations earlier this month - all is good now, and ready to go!
BritComs!!! Who doesn't love 'em?
I'm a big fan, from those that have made it to US PBS (with characters like Dave Lister & Arnold Rimmer, Sir Humphrey Appleby, Baldrick and of course, Basil Fawlty and the Minister of Silly Walks!) Read more
