XC Ski: Elk Pass/Blueberry Hill

The forecast says SNOW and its time to change it up from Lake Louise area. Provided conditions improve as expected, we'll head off to Peter Lougheed Prov. Park to ski Elk Pass and up to Blueberry Hill. The windy turns and ups and downs of Elk Pass are the training route for the stretch up to the vantage point of Blueberry Hill. Should be a good view of K-Country lakes.

This trip is for those who have been on cross country skis before, and know how to snowplow and herringbone. Rank beginners should take lessons before attending.

A good level of fitness is required as our pace is moderate-fast. Please be realistic about your abilities. You must be able to commit to the entire event.

Note: Location may change, or event may be cancelled if there is insufficient snow.

Rating: Moderate XC Ski (D3)

Hi all! Conditions tomorrow are looking good! The trails were trackset only yesterday, and the forecast says a high of -8oC (be prepared for colder when we start in the morning). Limited snow expected, so the roads should be cleared for us. See you tomorrow at 9am at Brentwood!

Do they rent equipment at either of the ski areas? Also is it ok for a novice to join?

Hi Ahmed, If you have never skied before, this is not for you. There are some steepish hills to climb up and ski down. Also, with XC skiing, there are no shops/etc. at trailheads - its like a hiking trailhead. Equipment must be rented in town beforehand (eg. MEC or the UofC outdoor center).
