1817 Crowchild Trail N.W.
Next to the pedestrian overpass to the Banff Trail LRT Station
TRIP WAIVER AND CONDITIONS: You must sign a trip waiver to attend this event. Please read the document and fill in your personal details, but do not sign it. Your organizer will be your witness. Yearly membership fee is $20 which lasts until the Annual General Meeting in February 2013. Alternately, you may participate as a non-member for $5 for the day.
Roundtrip Time: 8 hours est. (Only an estimate. Don’t make plans that depend on it. It’s the mountains.)
Height gain: 1,170m (Calgary Tower is 191m high)
This trip involves bushwhacking. One of the most spectacular ridgewalks you’ll ever do.
This is a moderate to difficult scramble. The ridge is relatively easy and straightforward but exposed. You may be able to walk along the ridge on the right side but it will be all scree. An average level of fitness is required but our pace is moderate-slow. Please be realistic about your abilities. Please gauge your abilities appropriately. Organizers are not here to babysit you. I don’t want to “Waste My Time in the Canadian Rockies.”
Bushwhacking and Off-trail: With many of my trips there is a good likelihood of bushwhacking and off-trail and that naturally means some route-finding. I tend to get off the beaten track and try to avoid “tourist” routes. If you want the tourist route, you’re on the wrong trip. You are warned. Don’t be surprised.
Driving and Directions:
To get there we'll meet in the parking lot at Mcmahon. From Hwy 1 westbound to Hwy 40. Hwy 40 south to Smith Dorrien and then up to Buller Pass parking lot (left side).
Weather forecast: unknown
Trail conditions: unknown

CORA trips start at the trailhead. As a convenience to participants only, we meet at the meeting point in Calgary then car pool from there. Please be on time. We don't want to have to wait around long. You may choose to meet us at the trailhead, but please advise us ahead of time. Please indicate in your RSVP COMMENTS if you can drive, if necessary. Please reimburse some $$ to drivers for gas.
