(Copied mostly from Michael's March 1st trip posting, thank you Michael!)
Mt Hector is the quintessential Ski tour of the Rockies. Where else out here can you get a vertical mile of skiing. So weather/avalanche conditions permitting we will try to bag this one. We will start up at the trail head just before dawn.
In order to get a well-rested, yet early start, we will stay at the Lake Louise Hostel the night before, leaving Calgary at 6 PM.
This is not an easy tour: it involves moving throughglaciated and complex terrain, and a long ascent (close to 1,600 m vertical). We will be travelling on 2 roped teams.
Because I have pre-booked 6 spots at the LL hostel: in order to move from the wait list first I will contact you then you will need to send me the $32.00 dorm fee(you get a $3 cash return from me at the hostel if you are HI member and show your membership card then). So make sure that you can attend before signing up for the trip. After you have paid, you will get a refund only if we were able to find a replacement.
Please note if avi and weather conditions are unfriendly we will go skiing somewhere else in a less complex terrain.
