Climbing at Mount Royal Recreation Centre

Those who are interested in doing some indoor climbing over the winter are welcome to join Caroline and I on Monday evenings at Mount Royal University Recreation Centre.

This link will give you the pricing options and if you are an alumnus, current student or staff member you get a discount from the posted pricing (a very nice discount as I paid 276 for a yearly pass vs. the posted $531).

As with all other climbing gyms and walls you will need to pass a belay test your first time out.

I have also been told that they are ok with people climbing in their mountaineering boots. Something I intend to do on occasion.

Harness - The club does have extras

Belay Device -

My arms and neck still ache but I enjoyed the evening. It was my first time climbing indoors so it was a learning experience. Thanks to everyone for belaying, providing encouragement and organising the event.

The climbing wall is open to the public at 4pm. The belay test is $5. I will be there around 4:30pm to take the test.

For those who will be using the Climbing Wall for the first time you will need to do a belay test and I will likely be there about 6:30

Climbing gear, including shoes, can be rented on site. Drop in cost is $11 for the entire facility...including the weight room, track and huge hot tub!
