Robyn MacLean and Stephanie Gough from Brookline Public Relations (http://brooklinepr.com/) will be talking to us about PR agencies. Robyn and Stephanie will talk about how PR agencies work, what they do and who they do it for, and how bloggers and those involved in social media can have effective relationships with firms and agents.

If you're an established blogger, there is a good chance that you're receiving releases about events, products, news, and other matters that agencies deal with. How should you respond to them? How can you, as a blogger, benefit from that news or that announcement? How can you nurture a mutually beneficial relationship with those agencies, so that everyone, including your readers, are getting something valuable from it?

As experienced agents, Robyn and Stephanie will be able to de-mystify their industry, answer questions about their business, and specifically address the relationship between bloggers and social media users and the PR industry.

Being someone who is not a professional media person (my blog is hobby rather than business), I've often had questions about whether I should respond to releases that are clearly not up my alley, and whether I'm obligated to make a public announcement if I accept an offer to go to an event. I'm really looking forward to hearing this presentation. I know that they will be ready to answer questions, so be sure to come with yours at the ready.

I look forward to seeing you there! ~John
