The Official Cambridge QS Launch Event

Details

This will be the very first meeting following the format we are hoping to do on a monthly basis. With one exception: a "surprise" welcome message from London QS organizers Adriana Lukas and Ken Snyder!

Plan:

From 6.30 to 7 there will be a chance to meet all the other people interested in quantified self, over a glass of wine or fizzy drink / water.

Then, inspired by our first planning meeting, we aim to have three short talks followed by discussions, Q&A, etc. (Please see speaker guidelines below):

• A classic QS show-and-tell talk, where someone will tell us about a recent or "in-progress" self quantification project.

• A tech talk, focused on technology for self quantification or perhaps the introduction of an early stage start-up product relevant for the members of the group.

• A researchy talk, where someone from academia might speak about recent advances in quantified self in general, a recent or "in-progress" self-tracking or self-hacking research project they have done.

Afterwards people are encouraged to hang around for drinks or maybe a meal at the Library.

Guidelines for presenters and speakers at Cambridge QS meetups

Do let me know if you would like to give a short show-n-tell, techy, or researchy quantified self talk, between 5 and 10 minutes.

The main criteria for speaking is that the group can take away something which could be useful for or help get started their own self-tracking and self-hacking* efforts. Examples could be other Cambridge QS members being inspired to do a self-tracking project similar to yours. Or use a tool that you found particularly useful, or read a research paper describing some research you did which proved or disproved something QS related.

Please be aware that talks will be video and/or audio recorded for the benefit of group members who cannot attend the meetup. Let me know if this is an issue, and we can try and work around it

  • self-tracking and (especially) self-hacking are terms developed by the founders of the LondonQS community.
