Open Cambridge

Our summer event this year will be an Open Space event. These are a great way to share ideas with other people and learn from your peers. As with our Round-Table discussions, the agenda is assembled on the day by the participants. If you want to play around with a new language or programming technique for an hour, run a workshop on removing a particular code smell or to get to know your tools better, or discuss with other craftsman a subject close to your heart, simply add it to the programme on the morning!

Schedule

09.30 Arrival, Tea/Coffee
10.00 Welcome and Introductions
10.15 Marketplace - introduce your session(s)
11.00 Session 1
12.00 Session 2
13.00 Lunch
14.00 Session 3
15.00 Session 4
16.00 Session 5
17.00 Close - Pub!

Lunch will be provided by our hosts, and sessions will run around the Red Gate building throughout the day. Get your thinking caps on now for things you'd like to run (or see run) during the day, and post them to the forum

I promised to link to the talk about the 12 hour project plan as well, but it's not yet available.
The basic idea is that any project is broken down to fit with the clock face, because both the developer and the project manager will understand the urgency of "half past 8 and you say you're less that half way through the tasks" - no matter how you estimate or run your sprints.

I like this: simple and probably effective.

I promised a link to Strategyzer - the thing about the Value Proposition Model and the Business Proposition Canvas: http://blog.strategyzer.com

This is their blog which I find very useful - it can translate quite easily into one product within a bigger business. If you are ever in charge of making a decision about whether to build a piece if software or product - read this first! :-)

    Hi everyone

    Thanks for coming along today!

I mentioned the new Community blog I set up this week, which you can find at http://camswcraft.github.io/. It would be great to see some attendee-contributed posts about today's event; if you'd like to contribute a post, check out the instructions here: https://github.com/camswcraft/camswcraft.github.io/blob/master/README.md

Do let me know if you run into any problems with the instructions: tweet me @alastairs or email me through Meetup. Cheers

    Alastair
