Tracy and I like to camp but unfortunately none of our friends are into the camping thing. During our outings we like to walk around and talk to other campers and have found that there are a lot of other people in the same situation. It's always more fun when you have more campers sitting around the campfire at the end of the night.
That is when we figured it would be nice to make a camping group for more informal camps. Basically, "I'm going camping. Anyone else wanna go too?" or "I want to go camping. These people are camping here this weekend. Let's join them."
There are a few other camping groups on meetup for the StL area which are good groups but I have found that they have more large, heavily planned camps that are further between on dates. We are looking for the campers that decide on Monday that they are going camping this weekend and could camp independently but adhere to the more the merrier outlook on camping.
The group is open to any and all campers. Whether you have a 50ft Class A or just like to sleep under the stars. Understand that the camps might sometimes be a little disorganized but hey we are campers. We adapt and overcome. If we cant get spots next to each other then we can just pick the person that has the most firewood, bring over our chairs and coolers and hang at their spot for the night. I figure as people get to know each other they can work together to make any more extravagant plans if they decide to camp together again.
This is a meetup group for campers that want to meet other people who like to camp also. The goal is to avoid having events be too large and over-organized and to have more small camps that will fit anybody's schedule. Members will have access to set up an event as long as it is camping. Basically, if you have a place and date you are going to camp then post it along with a reserved campsite if you have one as an event and other members can join you if they so choose. If you have something you would like to do during the camp such as float trip, hike or just sit in the river and make fun of drunk floaters then put that down too. Maybe everyone does the same events during the camp or maybe they just do their own thing and everyone meets up at the campfire later. Or maybe everyone just figures out what they are going to do as a group when they get their campers/tents set up.
Please post in your member intro a little information about what you camp in, camp with pets, have kids that camp, like to drink while camping, etc. Hopefully this will help give a baseline on yourself for other campers who might want to join you on your camp.
Membership is open to everyone

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
