Impact Investments are becoming an asset class unto their own. Whether the investment takes the form of private equity, venture capital, microfinance, community loans, investments to social entrepreneurs and in social ventures, the common thread is the goal of achieving competitive returns and a positive social outcome. While impact investing is already further along in the US and the UK, it is still a budding market in Canada. This group brings investment professionals, angel investors, social entrepeneurs, social venture companies, economic development professionals, changemakers, and other interested individuals together to learn more about impact investing, to connect investors with social enterprises, share stories, and debate industry issues.  I hope that this group will grow its membership along with the coming growth in the impact investing industry.   I wanted to make this forum a place that attracts Canadians nationwide, while encouraging our members to suggest local events in their community for our members to get together.  Our group has the opportunity to help raise awareness of the impact investing industry in Canada and its potential as an alternative investment class that has the benefit of making positive impacts.  Why just invest when you can make sustainable improvements on communities and society at the same time?  From coast to coast, share your insights, opinions, experiences, and stories.
