Attendees are asked to RSVP to [masked] or else to this meetup. Please arrive ten minutes before the start time. Proceed up the escalators and sign in at the security desk there. You will be met and escorted to the model office. Contact[masked] if there are any problems.

This talk introduces the spatial data handling capabilities of R, within the context of a specific analytical task. Specific spatial analysis methods (e.g. kriging) are not the focus. The talk will, instead, provide some examples of: R spatial object attributes; Importing and exporting spatial data; Creating spatial objects; Plotting; Merging (union) spatial objects; Standard geos functions (buffer, intersections, centroid, distance); and Multiple imputation using Amelia.

Please also note the related R User Group talk the following afternoon on the related topic of plotKML.
