Subject: [language-166] New Meetup: Canto-English Meetup

Brace yourself, this is a long one...

Announcing a new Meetup for Cantonese-English Language Exchange!

What: Canto-English Meetup

When: July 17,[masked]:30 PM

Where:
City University of HK Canteen
Tat Chee Avenue Kowloon Tong
Hong Kong

Hey, it's another early(ish) announcement. I guess I'm just a little excited

Daai Ga Ho! Time to meet new people, share new ideas, and master more skills. Once again we'll be meeting at the "Taste" Supermarket near Exit C of Kowloon Tong Station at 19:30, then leaving for the City University Canteen soon after. Please don't be too late 'cos I think we'll have to end the meetings at around 21:30 (if we find a different venue, they'll go on for much longer; we're open to all suggestions).

There will be a few new things for us to do this week though:

1)In the past I introduced a few games to everyone and they seemed to go down well. Unfortunately, they weren't made of the most durable/professional materials so they got a bit tattered and torn. This week I'd like to buy some real boardgames that we can all use during the meetup in our groups. So on Friday, please bring along an extra $20 so that we can make a collection of sorts, and start getting some really good quality resources. This is optional, but the more people bring, the more games we can buy, and the more fun we can have. Also, if you know any games which are great for groups, let us know. Please feel free to bring along any games that you already have :-)

2)It seems like there is a really good group of people that come each week and we always have fun together at the meetup AND at the "Afterparty" which seems to have become a kind of tradition. However, although a few of us love going out and doing the "Cheung K Bar" thing (I'm probably the main culprit there), there are a few people who would like to go and try out other things and I'm always eager to experience something new/fun. So, I'd like to encourage people who would like to do something else to go ahead and suggest something at the meetings (e.g. Going for dessert, bowling etc.). That way, if we can't all go together at least we'll all have options.

3)Also, I've been thinking that since we're such a big group, we can quite easily hire facilities for activities for us to do together, e.g. boat trip parties, war games, football/basketball courts, hourly hotels (just kidding... maybe...). So besides the Friday meetup, I think we can start organising other fun stuff to do together. If anybody has any connections/knowledge about how to start arranging these, please let myself or Jimmy know so we can take this thing to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL!!!

So, to summarise:

1)Bring $20 so we can buy some cool conversational games.

2)Come with some alternatives to Karaoke Bar for the "Afterparty" so we can have something for everyone.

3)Suggest/Help organise some activities besides the meetup for us to do together on other days of week so we can grow together in more ways.

I look forward to all your great ideas. See you soon.

SuperDave
