Stuart Halloway and Rich Hickey on Clojure

  • Mar 17, 2010 · 5:30 PM
  • Oracle

Stuart Halloway, the author of Programming Clojure, and Rich Hickey, the creator of Clojure! This is a joint meeting with the NOVA JUG, so you Register at http://www.eventbrite....

We are very lucky to have Stu and Rich join us; They will be in town for the Pragmatic Studio's Clojure Programming class, and they have agreed to give a presentation to the local Clojure community.

This meetup will be held at the Oracle building near the Reston Town Center, in the Theater in the Reston 1 Building. Oracle requires that we provide a list of attendees to their security folks, so please use your real name to register (and they might check your id, of course). There is plenty of parking in the garage.

NOTE that this is a new time, again due to Oracle's request. Doors open at 5:30. The presentation will begin at 6:30 and end at 8:30. On the plus side, the date is St Patrick's Day, so that will get us to the bars quicker.

Two very interesting talks: Stu, who presented an intro to clojure, was his usual interesting and engaging self. Rich talked about some new features (reify and deftype) that are coming to the language. Along the way Rich provided some great insights into the design philosophy of Clojure. Best few hours that I have spend on technology in a long time.

Let me know if someone can't go, and I will see about moving the ticket over to someone else. This is full, so I would like to accommodate people who didn't get a registration. An email to gray.herter at gmail.com is OK.

What better way to spend St Patty's Day than with St Stu and St Rich!
