Greetings, fellow scribes!

Once again, the first Saturday of the month is upon us and I have yet to consider what tricks I can pull out of my hat for a good meeting topic. So, how 'bout we play it a little loose this time around.

I would like to put on a short workshop on italic lettering - the easiest hand to begin calligraphy with, yet challenging enough to keep one occupied for a lifetime! Please bring your standard "traveling Studio" to participate.

More critically, I would like to form some sort of a committee this Saturday, in whatever shape we determine to make it, to distribute tasks in order to create a more active, involved guild. For example, I am sure I could do a better job of bringing in new workshops and finding venues and opportunities and interesting teachersfor our guild if someone else might handle things like membership, communication, schedules, etc. etc. I know, it sounds like the work end of things, and perhaps it is to some degree. But, we are a small group with lots of potential and it really doesn't require too much to keep things going. It has been a real joy for me to gather once a month and share ideas with other lettering artists - I look forward to continuing with that, as well as incorporating other workshops and studio groups from time to time as well. So, along with your art supplies, please bring your thinking caps as well as we sit to discuss how we can better facilitate our shared goal of a creating a strong community of lettering artists.

Also up for discussion and adventure - our upcoming exhibit at Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in March! The topic will be nature - pretty broad subject -- and it is open to all members of the Cape Cod Calligraphers guild. Please bring ideas, sketches, quotes, what-have-you on Saturday.

Happy Autumn! I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Oct 1, from 10:00 until noon, at the Harwich Community Center!
