The Capital District Transition Network follows on the model of the Transition Towns originated by Rob Hopkins in the UK. The US has about 300 Transition Towns that are in various states of organization. With the Capital District there are three organizations: Transition Albany, Transition Schenectady and Transition Troy. The purpose of Transition is to move away from fossil fuels and towards relocalizing our basic needs. Anyone who is concerned about the environment, peak oil, or the economy is encouraged to join us.
