Let's hike at a moderate pace to enjoy this gem of a park full of redwoods and a year-round creek. Fall Creek is part of Henry Cowell State Park but located in a different spot - please read the directions carefully to arrive at the correct parking lot. We will meet in the parking lot by the softball fields south of the entrance. No parking fees.
Projected route:
From the softball field parking lot, High School Trail to Fall Creek Fire Road to Ridge Trail to South Fork Trail and the Lime Kilns. We will stop for a brief lunch at the Lime Kilns and then go around the Lime Kilns to Cape Horn Trail then return via Fall Creek Trail (south) to Fall Creek Fire Road to High School Trail back to the high school parking lot. I anticipate that this will take about 3-3 1/2 hours.
Hike Preparation: Bring sufficient water and lunch. Good hiking shoes, a hat, and hiking pole(s) if desired.
Directions:
From Hwy 17, take Mt. Hermon Road towards Felton.
• Mt. Herman Road dead-ends at Graham Hill Road in Felton. Make a right turn onto Graham Hill Road and stay in the right lane.
• In approximately 0.2 miles turn right onto Hwy 9.
• In 0.6 miles, at the traffic light, turn left into the high school AND THEN MAKE AN IMMEDIATE LEFT TURN and park near the softball field. We will meet there, then head for the trailhead.
• There is no parking fee.
