So we had two weeks of flat coastal rides, last week was hot and hilly, so this week we will get the best of both worlds - coastal and hilly! The forecast is looking to be cooler, thankfully, and this ride contains more warmup time along the coast.

We will be beginning in Solana Beach. We are going to try out meeting at the north end of the train station parking lot in Solana Beach. Please note the spot (we haven't met there before).

The A ride was routed in honor of Heather K's birthday, and she specifically requested the "Bridges Route", which is one of the lesser known routes up Soledad. The A ride may possibly include a stop at Bird Rock Coffee for a quick espresso to power the next two climbs up Soledad - Nautilus (most of the way) and then Cardeno, descending Via Capri to return via Calle de Oro.

41 miles, 3700 ft

The B ride is similar to the A route except that it skips the "Bridges Route" (a much steeper way up). The view descending La Jolla Scenic Drive is worth coming for!! B route:

The C ride will be ascending Torrey Pines along with the other groups, but once in La Jolla, will enjoy a nice tour circling the base of Soledad, and returning through the UCSD campus. You will get to test your climbing legs on Torrey Pines and the return trip.

We are having great turn outs and really enjoyable rides, and our trips to Soledad are always memorable ones.

NOTES: Road bikes are recommended for these routes. Please bring an extra tube, CO2 cartridge or hand pump, and enough fluid and snacks (suggestion: two bottles minimum for the longer rides, and two snacks). Helmets are always required, and we obey all traffic laws.
