For the seventh year in a row, come join us for the first trail run of the year. Yep, I've been putting this run on longer than our wonderful group here has been around. So come on out and have some fun with us.
We're having it at the Anne Springs Close Greenway this year. If you've never ran at this trail, come check out this gem of a trail system! This is NOT a race, instead, it's just a group of us getting together for a run. Be sure to bring 3 bucks (per person) with you as there is a trail use fee to be paid to the Greenway at the trail kiosk.
We'll be having a pseudo-10k trail run. Don't want to do a full 10k, then start off with a 5k option. We'll have both. It's open to anyone that wants to come for a run. The trail is tough enough that you'll get a great workout, but easy enough for new trail runners.
Again, this is not a race. If you are looking for a race, there are several to choose from in the area. Last year we had several runners run races and then showed up to put in some additional mileage.
If you've thought about trail running, this is a great opportunity to give it a shot. From the folks who I know that are coming, there are a wide variety of skill levels. You should have no problem finding someone around your same ability. Want to run less than a 10k? No problem. Just let me know at the beginning of the run and I'll hook you up with a decent, pseudo-5k distance.
Check out the pic from the 2007 New Year run the first year we did it. Notice the Sharksbite jersey. For you old-school runners from Charlotte, you may recognize it.
