Brisk - Apache Hadoop powered by Cassandra

Abstract:

Datastax Brisk is an open-source distribution of Hadoop that leverages the high availability attributes of Apache Cassandra. Its goal is to provide a distribution that is simpler to operate, maintain, and use than other distributions. Stronger integration with Hadoop MapReduce including Hive and Pig will also open up opportunities to current Cassandra users beyond the real-time analysis that Cassandra excels at today.

Bio:

Ben Coverston has been involved in enterprise software his entire career. Working in the airline industry, he helped to build some of the highest volume online booking sites in the world. He saw first hand the consequences of trying to solve real world scalability problems at the limit of what traditional relational databases are capable of.
