I learned to sail many years ago when I was in high school and had experience in various types of dinghy's; Coronado 15s, Lido 14s Sabots (both lee board and dagger board) as well as in keel boats of various types. I owned for many years a Catalina 22 which we kept in a slip in Newport Beach. I did a fair amount of day sailing and made several trips to Catalina. But we sold the 22 about twenty five years ago and I haven't been sailing since. I've wanted to but don't know anyone with a sailboat and besides, it's a little hard to meet sailors and to sail up in the mountains.
I met Bobbi at the July sailboat show after being directed to the West Coast Sailing School by the folks who were exhibiting the Gemini, Tomcat and Seawind. We had a wonderful conversation and my significant other and I both feel that joining the meetup group and participating in the complete sailing course will be an excellent way to get back into sailing. Lancine, my SO, is especially excited about multihull sailing because of the lack of heeling. i am excited because I 'm a big guy and I love the roominess of a cat. We ultimately want to Charter in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean and who knows where else. We are even interested in the possibility of ultimately putting our own boat into charter in San Diego and really want to discuss the options. Finally, we feel that San Diego is an excellent home base to get back into the lifestyle and we are very interested and excited to meet like-minded people.
My name is Ed Booth and I live in Running Springs, CA, a community in the San Bernardino Mountains about two hours north of San Diego. I am a GIS Technician working in city gov't and am also a graphic designer and fine artist (oil paints primarily).
We had a great time meeting the folks we spent the day with and are really looking forward to the next time.
