What we’re about

We are a loosely organized group that paddles rivers & lakes in the Carolinas' piedmont & foothills (mostly). We run a lot of point to point river routes, but don't look for technical whitewater - the lower Green is about as gnarly a paddle as you'll find in our Meetup. We also post lake trips, as well as a few out & back river trips.

We are serious about safety:

• Participants are required to wear a PFD (all the time) on club paddles.

• You're safer if you're more skilled! Any of our paddles (but especially Easy/Beginner ones) can include skills building. We encourage anyone to take classes, but proficiency comes only with practice. We try to include time for playing on riffles, stroke demos/practice, bracing, edging, exit, re-entries, etc.

A waiver is required to participate in club paddles. You can download it here.

Outings are planned and led by members. We post a lot of the same paddles every year (some several times a year). If you are wondering about visiting a particular place, ask! Occasionally, someone posts a hike or bike ride or other outdoor activity, but we're mostly about paddling.
