Why we chose MySQL over NoSQL databases like MongoDB

There seems to be a lot of controversy over all of the database choices nowadays and we were faced with a pretty monstrous decision for the future database backend to ensure the longevity of our products.

We decided to use MySQL as it best fit OUR use case and we'd love to share our learning experience as we sifted through the pros and cons of MySQL over MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB and other NoSQL alternatives. While the scalability options of both have their benefits we strongly believe in MySQL's ability to grow as needed and we're living proof, with hundreds of millions of records and hundreds of gigabytes of storage used so far!

Whether you're an entrepreneur, a junior, or a senior developer, we'll try to have something for everyone in this talk. We hope to strengthen your pending decision to either commit to SQL or NoSQL based on the facts we've discovered!

We look forward to sharing our experiences and learning about yours!

Our meetup is at our brand new South Amboy office, with FREE food, drinks, and networking. What more could you ask for?

I am not familiar with the neighborhood. Can you please advise if parking is a challenge in the neighborhood of the event?

Thanks Byran, and now I'm curious where Imago comes from. Have not seen it before.

No problem! It was actually a weekend project I made about a year ago, I may open source to get a little more out of it

Please spread the word and tell a friend if you think they might be interested in nerdy database/startup talk! The more the merrier!
